Masters behind curtains

For more than a century the art+event Theaterservice costume workshop has passed on the art of costume production. Some people may say that clothes make people – here, people make the clothes. And on an overall area of 3,950 square metres. Their customers are opera houses, theatres and festivals all over Europe, but also museums, TV and film productions, advertising and event agencies, trade fairs, architects, companies and individuals.

From the first design to the finished costume

The experience tour shows the creation of stage costumes from the figurine to the handmade
works of costume art ready to be worn on stage. Every year, 15,000 metres of fabric become
magnificent costumes of every kind – historic, modern or fantasy – but also amazing garments for private customers. Their costume collection is particularly impressive, where about 190,000 individual parts of costumes are stored on two floors – thousands of dresses, trousers, coats, jackets, boots, shoes, hats and much more. Clothes really do make the person! The experience tour provides an insight in the workshop’s logistics as well as current costume production.

The seal of quality was awarded on 13 June 2012.
